Halloween Hellraiser!
Count Floyd says this one is going to be reeeal scary kids...owOOOOOOOOoooooo!!! One of the finest new venues in town for live music, the Route 20 Outhouse, will be hosting its first annual Halloween Hellraiser this Saturday night the 27th featuring HWY 13, Mohr Avenue and a costume contest with $500 for the lucky winner.
Formerly Spokes, the Route 20 Outhouse is conveniently located just west of the intersection of I-94 & HWY 20 (1400 Washington Ave., Sturtevant WI for you GPS'ers), so it'll be easier to get there from places like Franklin, Union Grove or Kenosha than it is to drive 3 blocks anywhere in Racine from 7th St. north to 4 Mile Rd. The Outhouse features a newly built stage with built-in lighting & PA system, and extra seating on a 2nd-floor balcony. They also have a full menu so you don't have to party on an empty stomach either. Just be careful with the gyro sandwich if you're wearing a white toga or the "naughty nurse" costume!
Live music begins 9:30-ish (musician time) with Mohr Avenue, who have been rockin' Southeast Wisconsin for about 5 years with their hard-driving, edgy style of original rock 'n roll. HWY 13 follows and we'll be jamming all the songs off our debut HWY 13 CD, some new rockers we plan to record on our next CD and a few hits from the previous HWY 13 & Blind Ambition eras. We also have some provisional cover songs up our sleeves, but we'll see how the time goes with the costume contest and general paganism we were hoping for during the show.
So with HWY 13 and Mohr Avenue meeting at the intersection of I-94 and HWY 20, all roads lead to a scary good time at the Route 20 Outhouse's Halloween Hellraiser this Saturday. Thanks again for tuning in and supporting local live music. Keep rockin' and don't forget...ow...ow...owOOOOOOOOOOOoooooooo!!!!!

Rockin' the Bug
If you made it to see HWY 13 at the Mosquito Inn last Saturday, you immediately realized the rumors of Tim's demise for this gig were greatly exaggerated...at least for the first set. It also turns-out his early departure had nothing to do with bow hunting and everything to do with a late night charity gig he committed to at the Brat Stop with Junkies for Fame.
While this blog has always prided itself on accurately reporting the facts, the bottom line is these posts come from rambling, Pabst-fueled, post-practice conversations going on while our ears are still ringing from Alpine Valley-type sound levels. All this incoherence gets processed by a sweaty, derelict drummer with no formal training in journalism whatsoever. So if it's 100% accuracy in reporting you want, don't look here...watch Dan Rather on CBS...on second thought...watch Peter Arnette on CNN...no wait...read Jayson Blair in the New York Times...whoops...try Mike Barnicle from the Boston Globe...oh never mind!
The bottom line is, with HWY 13 you get journalism as accurate and trustworthy as the mainstream media, plus we play rock & roll way better than Walter Cronkite ever could on a good day.
In any case, we rocked the Mosquito Inn, the set is getting tighter & tighter and now we're setting our sights on HWY 13's next gig at the Route 20 Outhouse's Halloween party & costume contest on October 27. We'll be rockin' with Mohr Avenue and the joint will be jumpin' with ghouls, so this is one trip to the outhouse that you definitely won't need to bring something to read!
Thanks again for tuning in, mark your calendars for the Outhouse on the 27th and keep rockin'!
